Aerobics

Elisabeth Murdoch College has been involved in aerobics competitions for almost 20 years. Our squad consists of around 60 competitors from students in Years 7-12 who make up 11 teams. We also have many previous students who come back to coach our teams. Our teams train for 1-2 hours per week, as well as doing other strength and conditioning training outside school.

School Aerobics is the largest inter-school aerobic and dance competition for Primary and Secondary school students throughout Australia. It is aimed to improve fitness, confidence, health and self esteem through participation in a healthy and fun competition. If your team qualifies for Nationals in School Aerobics, you can travel interstate for the final competition. We have competed in the School Aerobics competitions where many teams qualify for the National Championships. In the Schoolaerobics Spring Challenge, nine teams competed and the teams secured a number of medals- two first place medals, two second place medals, two third place medals, one fifth and one sixth place medal. http://www.schoolaerobics.com.au/

We’re hoping to be just as successful in 2012. These students must be fit for competition in strength, power, flexibility and agility and along with that comes their presentation on stage. What is needed are great smiles to woo the judges, fantastic leotards or costumes, neat hair, make up and a golden glow to the skin. We have been doing many fundraisers for our aerobics squad and seek sponsorship support and donations from businesses and the community.
