Child Development

Child Development explores the areas of conception, pregnancy, the birth process and the fundamentals of physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of a child from birth to 5 years of age.   In particular such topics are examined in more depth such as, what is a family, the role of a parent, teenage pregnancy, the changes experienced by the expectant mother and developing foetus, prenatal care and hazards, the influence of genes, nutrients required by mother and child during pregnancy, child birth, bottle versus breast feeding, the cost of having a baby, immunisation and the importance of play.
