Overview

The Certificate II in Building and Construction is one of the courses in Elisabeth Murdoch Colleges RTO scope of registration.

VET in schools multiplies opportunities for students.  They enable students to complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification as well as contribute towards their VCE Certificate. Classroom learning is combined with structured hands-on training and practice in industry. This program is delivered over two years and will provide students the knowledge and skills to enhance their employment prospects in the building and construction industry.

  • Times: Varies depending on the group and year level. Some classes will be run on Wednesdays.

Structured Work Placement (SWL)

Structured Workplace Learning is not mandatory in this program; however, the VCAA strongly recommends a minimum of ten days work placement for this program. Students must complete their white card training prior to work placement.


Special Requirements

Students are required to have the following at all classes:

  • Sleeveless overalls (beige)
  • Safety work boots (steel cap)

Contribution to the VCE

Students who complete the two years of the course will be eligible for up to four credits towards their VCE: up to two units at Unit 1–2 and a Unit 3–4 VCE sequence. Students who successfully complete the two years of the course will be eligible for a 10% increment towards their ATAR calculated using 10% of the lowest study score of the primary four.
