AGA Apprenticeships Plus RTO 3829
VET in schools multiplies opportunities for students. They enable students to complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification as well as contribute towards their VCE or VCAL Certificate. Classroom learning is combined with structured hands-on training and practice in industry. The program is delivered at Somerville Secondary College or Chisholm Institute of TAFE. The program is designed to provide training, practical skills and studies for students interested in investigating a career as an Electrician. The training is project-based and gives hands on experience in the workshop and an introduction to careers in Electrotechnology. The program has a focus on electical skills for the first year students. The second year of the program covers all theory needed for students to progress into an electrical apprenticeship or an career in the electrotechnology industry.
The training is project based and gives hands on experience in the workshop and an introduction to the various careers available in electrotechnology, these include electrical, electronics, renewable energy and telecommunications.
Students who complete both years of of the UEE2201 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (career start) will have completed a nationally recognised pre-vocational qualification for careers in this industry. This may reduce future training in electrotechnology by up to 6 months.

UEE22020- Certificate II Electrotechnology (Career Start)
- Venue: Somerville Secondary College and Chisholm Tafe
- Time: Wednesdays and Fridays
Students will require the following at each class:
- Safety work boots/shoes
- Short/long sleeved shirt (no singlets)
- Chisholm will provide safety glasses
Year 10 level of Maths and English is recommended.
Structured Workplace Learning
Structured Workplace Learning is not mandated in this program, however the VCAA strongly recommend all VET students undertake some work placement.
Contribution to the VCE and VCAL
The contribution to a student’s VCAL program is determined by the number of units of competence completed. This program will satisfy learning outcomes for the Industry Specific and Work Related Skills strands. This program may contribute to the VCAL at the Foundation, Intermediate or Senior levels. 1st year - 200 hours - accredited training.

Training and Employment Outcomes
Employment opportunities exist in the electrical trades and in electronic installation, testing, repair or sales, working on audio systems, video systems, mobile phone systems, electronic security systems, care electronic accessories, electronic ticketing systems, and vehicle engine management systems and computer interfacing.
