Year 10 Chemistry provides students with the opportunity to readily prepare for VCE Chemistry. Students will further their knowledge on the periodic table and the structure of the atom to investigate the bonding models of Ionic and Covalent compounds. They will then extend their learning studying the main types of reactions such as synthesis, decomposition, combustion and acid and bases. Students will use their knowledge and investigate how reactions can be sped up through the means of temperatures, concentrations, collisions and surface area. At the end of the unit, students will design and conduct an experimental investigation around the theme of rates of reactions. Students who are planning to undertake VCE Chemistry are strongly encouraged to undertake this subject
