Enhancement Studies

The Enhancement Studies Program provides the opportunity for high-achieving secondary students to extend their learning in a particular subject area by completing the first year of a standard university unit pair as part of their Year 12 program.

There are 10 different subjects available in the program in the areas of arts, business and economics, information technology and science.

The program provides students with intellectual challenges and an approach to learning that may not otherwise be available in the normal Year 12 program.

Students attending classes will have the benefit of working in small groups and may form friendships with students of similar high academic ability from other schools.

You are able to gain an insight into the demands of university study, which can greatly assist their transition from school to full-time university study.

The program is endorsed by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). If you successfully complete the program and meet the VCAA eligibility guidelines, the university study can be counted as your sixth VCE study and will be included in the calculation of your Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR).

It is also possible, depending on the course you choose, to gain credit for the subject during the first year of university.

Please Note: Students considering an enhancement study in year 12 should take the equivalent VCE unit 3 / 4 in year 11
